Several ways to add friends on Skype

existUse Skype on Windows or Mac

1. Click the Add Contact button. This button is located at the top of the left pane and its icon resembles the outline of a human figure with a "+" sign.

2. Search for the contact you need to add. You can search by name, Skype username or email address. The person you are searching for must be a registered Skype user.

3. Browse the search results. You may get multiple results, especially if you search by your real name. If you're not sure which person to add, ask them for their Skype username or the email address they used to sign up.

4. Add contacts to the contact list. After finding the contact you want to add in the search results list, click on their name, then click the "Add to Contacts" button in the upper right corner. A window with information about the contact will open. You can set this information as needed.

5. Wait for the other party to accept. You must wait until they accept your friend request before you can see a contact's status. After they accept the request, their status icon will change from the question mark.

6. Import contacts in batches. If you need to import all your contacts from another program, you can use the Import Contacts feature. You can import contacts from Facebook, Outlook, and different international email services.

Click the Contacts menu and select Import Contacts.

Select the service you wish to import contacts from.

Enter your username and password for the service.Skype claims that it will not save any password information.

Skype will show everyone with a Skype account from your import list. Click the "Add Contact" button to import all contacts. If you don't want to import someone, just uncheck the box next to their name.

Choose to send message to noSomeone with a Skype account. Skype will send messages to people on the list who don't have a Skype account. You can select the Ignore button to skip this step.

Contacts you add will not show their status until they accept your request.

existUsing Skype on Windows 8

1. Swipe at the bottom of the Skype application. If you are using a computer with a mouse, move the mouse at the bottom of the screen. Touch or click the "Add Contact" button in the lower right corner.

2. Search for the contact you want to add. You can search by name, Skype username or email address. Enter your search content in the search bar on the upper right and click the magnifying glass button.

3. Browse the search results list. Touch or click the contact you want to add and then touch the "Add to Contacts" button.

You can add personalized information to your contacts as needed. Tap Send to make your request.

1. Press the menu key on the device. Tap "Add Contact Hot".

2. Search for the contact you want to add. You can search by name, Skype username, email address or phone number. Tap the magnifying glass icon or press Enter on your keyboard to search.

3. Browse the search results. Once you find the contact you want to add, tap the search result and then tap the "+" icon to add them to your contact list.

4. Send request information. You can custom add contact request information. You can also send the request using default text.

existUsing Skype on iPhone and iPad

1. Touch the contact button. You will see your contact list. Select one of the lists you want to add.

2. Tap the "Add Contact" button. This button is located in the upper right corner of the interface, and its icon is like an outline of a human figure with a "+" sign.

3. Choose your method. You can "Search Skype Directory", "Save Phone Numbers" or "Import from iPhone".

"Search Skype Directory" lets you search by user's name, Skype username or email address. After entering your search you will see a list of search results. Touch the contact you want to add and click the "Add Contact" button. You will be able to customize the request information.

"Save Phone Number" lets you enter someone's name and phone number and then add them to your contact list. You will then be able to use your Skype coins to call the other party.

"Import from iPhone" allows you to import contacts from your iPhone and add their numbers to your Skype contacts. This will add the name and phone number without adding the contact as a Skype user.
